TO THE EDITOR.
Sir, —It must indeed be very gratifying to the adherents of the Prohibition Party to read the amazing resolution published by the New Zealand Alliance in Friday's "Evening Post." By an extraordinary manipulation of: figures we are told that there is a majority of 50,839 against Continuance. May we, then, expect Prohibition'in June next? It would be well to recall, Sir, that during tho Prohibition, campaign a speech was delivered in the Wellington Town Hall, under the auspices of the New Zealand Alliance, in which the Rev Gordon Bell was criticised. Yet rMr.-'lsitt and his kind have no hesitar tion in leaguing themselves with the followers of Mr. Bell, adding the State Control' votes to the Prohibition total, and announcing' proudly that there is -i majority against Continuance. We are told that the New Zealand Alliance will continue its campaign for educating the people of New Zealand with lUnremitting vigour. It is surely time that the New Zealand Alliance realised that the Loot is on the other foot, and that as far as education'goes they have, just received, a very severe lesson.—l am, etc., . . ' •i • A.
