APPOINTING NEW MINISTERS
PEIME MINISTER'S COMING TASK.
After the flush of victory has passed and matters Governmental once more become normal, it will be tho duty of the Prime Minister to sot about the task of recasting the Ministry. At least, two new Ministers will lio required, as the lion. Sir Francis Bell will bo resigning tho AttorneyGpneralbhip nnd. the Hon. Sir B. ileaton Bhodles . will relinquish the portfolio oi Defence on retiring from political life. Sir Francis Bell may carry on for some little .time yet, .although he is due to leave for England ir. March next, and Sir Hcaton Modes may not resign from the -Executive Council for some weeks.
. it is generally expected that tho Hon. W. Downie Stewart . will be offered vlie' Portfolio of Finance, at present hold by the Hon. W. Nosworthy, and in political circles there are thoso- who say that Mr. W. S. Glenn, the member for Bungitikot, would not be averse to accepting tlic rank' of Defence Minister. The I'rhnc Minister is free to allocate Jiis Cabinet portfolios when and hew he pleases, but ho may not set nbout the task'for a little wMle y_ct. Hi»
choice of a new Attorney General and Loader of tho Legislative Council and selection of another Defence Minister in place of Sir Heaton Rhodes will be awaited with interest, and there are those who would not be surprised if. Mr. Coates did not seek to redistri'/rite some of his own onerous portfolios. There is no shortage of as pirants for elevation to Ministerial rank.
