(Received sth November, 9 a.m.)
BERLIN, 4th November
Dr. Stresemann, expounding the importance of the Locarno Treaties, • emphasised that the Security ■ Pact meant that France renounced the policy involved in the suggestions of Marshal Foch and M. Clemenceau at the Versailles Conference that the Rhine 'should be the western frontier of Germany. He alluded to the political significance of the fact of Britain's undertaking fully to protect Germany against a French attack. He declared that the German treaties' with Poland .and Czechoslovakia contained nothing that could be construed as a recognition of Germany's present eastern frontier. ' The PolishFrench and Czecho-French supplementary treaties added uo rights beyond those which France enjoyed through.her membership "of the League of Nations. Dr. Stresemann mentioned the assurance given to the German delegation that with her entry into the League,' Germany would possess the moral right to obtain colonial mandates.
