COLLISION AT PETONE
TRAIN AND MOT OX-LORRY.
A second motor-lorry accident occurrod at the Petone railway crossing on Tuesday morning, when "P# "* owned and. driven by Mr. Boyd, of Randwick road, Lower Hutt, was struck and badly damaged by the 9.19 o clock Petone-Wellington train. Mr. Boyd ndd travelled along the Petone Esplanade, and had stopped at the crossing wnJe a shunting engine crossed. When he started aguin he had his .attention fixed on a train which was coming from Wellington some distance away, and failed to notice that the south-bound 9.19 train was almost upon him. He swerved, but failed to miss the train, which crashed into the fore part of the lorry causing the front wheels of the vehicle to be carried away. s Mr. Boyd escaped injury.
