, A man with a -good' war record had his. war wounds set down as the indirect cause of theft: to which he pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court' this morning. The man, Nathaniel' John Reed, aged,37 years, pleaded guilty to a charge of having failed to account for £26 9s' to B. N. R. M'Donald, of Wanganui. Chief-Detective Gibson said that the accused had collected the money, in connection with an art union conducted in Wanganui.' He had a good war record, and was respected un-' til he began to lead a fast life.' 1! The accused was admitted to three' year's' probation. i ; ■ ■
