LAST SHOTS AT WESTPORT
LABOUR LEADER AND HIS
OPPONENT,

The last shots in a vigorous campaign were fired to-night, when Mr. C. S. Beilby, Reform candidate for, BuUer, addressed a crowded meeting in the Victoria Theatre. He received a great ovation, and was accorded a unanimous vote 6J: thanks and confidence, the gathering rising and : singing "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow," and according him.. three hearty cheers. \ „ ■ Mr. H. E. Holland, Leader of the Parliamentary Labour Party, delivered his closing address in the Theatre Royal to a large audience, which gave him an excellent hearing and frequently applauded his remarks. He stated that he intended to be returned with .a larger-majority than on the previous occasion. He had received messages' from -the British Labour Party, and congratulatory . messages from people all over . the . Dominion. He condemned the Government's policy on the lines of.:his previous addresses, and contended that : the Reform Party was out for the reduction of wages, and it had dishonoured all its pledges. ,He claimed that the Reform Party was on the- defensive in this ■ election.) 1' fighting the Labour' Party. The meeting concluded with votes of thanks and confidence,.. and cheers for the member and his party*
