A WAY WITH BABIES
Among the delightful things that happened in Paris yesterday—and, of course, there were many—was the incident, of the policeman, the young mother, and the baby. The mother stood at the edge of the pavement of the busy thoroughfare hesitating to brave . tho crossing. A policeman saw her,'picked up the little one, which he carried on one arm, while the other he gallantly offered to the mother. The charming thing was that the mother still hesitnted. Thus the group made the prettiest of pictures standing there on the kerb side. And at that psychological moment thcro passed a motor-coach filled with British tourists. Ever ready cameras, a whole bittery of them, were trained on the policeman with the baby and the timorous mother, arid a dozen or bo English folk took home pictorial fncords of the fact.that Paris policemen have a wonderful way with babies—and pretty mothers. ■
