RETROSPECT OF WEMBLEY.

(UNITED PMSS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.)

(UEtITEK'S TELEGRAM.)

(Beceivcd 30th October, 9 a.m.) LONDON, 20th October.'

The Duko of York presided at a dinner given by the Empire Exhibition Commissioners for the Dominions and Colonies to tho Exhibition Board. Mr. Justice Bawlings, of Australia in proposing tho toast of "The Empiro Exhibition," said he hoped the Imperial Government might bo induced to maintain the ownership of AVombley to show the world what the Empire meant.

Proposing "The Overseas Pavilions," Mr. Amcry dealt with the educative value of tho Exhibition. If only wo could grasp tho vision to develop the Empire clear!/ and strongly, he said, then tho possibilities of the development, growth, and progressive welfare of all parts of the Empire were illimitable.

The Duke of York, responding, said the Dominions, colonies, protectorates, and mandated territories had proved that there was little or nothing that could not be produced within the Empire.
