WIRELESS CONTROL

"JAMMING" DEFIED

NEW ZEALANDER'S INVENTION.

(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPIWQHT.) (ADSTRALIAN.NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.)

(Received 30th October, 9 a.m.)

LONDON, 29th October

. Captain '.Roberts,'of New Zealand, in the presenco oi! research officers of tho Air Force, conducted important tests which he believes will prove that he has found the secret of avoiding interference with wireless. The tests took the form of a competition between Captain Roberta's apparatus and that of tho Air Force experts. Captain Roberts, declared, "I propose using my own wireless transmitter to light red and green lights upon v the receiver opposite. I will light them singly and together as you command.. Then you fix up your, transmitter and do your utmost to interfere."

Captain Bobcrts, as ordered, wirelessly lighted first one and then the other, and then both lamps. • Then the Air Force experts transmitter with five times the strength of Captain Eoberts 's, buzzed and crackled in an attempt to jam the signals. Nevertheless Captau Roberts completely controlled the lights. Captain Eoberts pointed out that this was the identical . method which would be used for the wireless control of a torpedo or any other machine. Tho "Daily Express" says that the Air Force officials, who in the first instance were; incredulous of their inability to interfere with tho transmission, were most impressed, and propose to undertake further tests.
