(UNITED PRn£3 ASSOCIATION COPYRIGHT.)
(Received 29th October, 9 a.m.) \ SYDNEY,'This Day.
licports from many country districts show that the position is very serious owing to the continued drought and the shortage of water. In the north-western areas tho conditions are specially bad. Sheep are dying, and owners are killing lambs to save the lives of the ewes. Grass is rapidly dying. The wheat crops generally are suffering, and over considerable areas what before tho drought promised to be a bumper harvest is threatened with failure, unless rain falls soon.
