THE CORPSE FACTORIES

SOME MORE EVIDENCE

LLOYD GEORGE DISBELIEVES THE STORY. (SYDNEX SUN CABLE.) (Received 26th October, 2.30 p.m.)

LONDON, 25th October

The New York correspondent of the "Daily News" rebuts General Charteris's assertion that he was incorrectly reported. He asserts that he telephoned General Cliarteris, who admitted the accuracy of the rebut, and added that the story was an isolated instance of a deliberate invention in the cause of British propaganda.

Mr. Lloyd George, in an interview, said : "We knew the story could not be true, and therefore it was never officially issued. I did not believe it, and I will not believe it now."

Mr. C. F. Mastcrman, then head of the Propaganda Department, said ho had examined the story, and found that the word "kadaver" did not apply to human bodies, and was oii v applicable to horses.

General Campbell says ho visited the St. Quenlin tunnel, and saw vats, in which, ho was convinced, bodies were being refined down.
