• The Tangier \ correspondent of '"The Times", says the Spanish authorities are reported to be showing great uneasiness regarding the situation of the Spanish forces landed at Alhucemas Bay. -•!•'. In spite of contradictions, it is: clear that this landing was only part of a more extensive programme, which for reasons not explained was'abandoned.v
The promontory of Morro Neuvo, where the Spaniards are now encamped, has been fortified, but the natural posi-. tion is unfavourable. "It is a rocky'cape, practically, without a water supply, and very exposed to the wind, which is steadily blowing, and the provisioning of the forces is becoming increasingly difficult. Moreover, the Riff batteries, despite the. formidable■:. bombardment from' French and Spanish fleets, has strangely come to life again, and completely dominates the promontory. During the day th» guns were silent, so as not to disclose their positions, but other Eiff guns daily fire on the transports and other vessels, and force them to withdraw out of range, and this makes it very difficult for them to communicate with the shore.
