The annnal report•■ and balance-sheet were adopted, the chairman and members congratulating the secretary (Mr. B.C. Cull) on its'■: preparation and presentation..; Mr. A. o.' Blake stated that; the. City. Council had been prompt and courteous ,iri its replies to correspondence. Many of the' needs and;' requirements of the district, remained still ■to be fulfilled. Among these, ■ notably was the, widening of drive between Coutts. street and Freyberg street;' 1' and the.association should urge on the council ,the "necessity .for. carrying on the work- immediately. Discussion took place on points raised by Mr. B. L. Jones in regard to street lighting, tha state of the loads, and the efttjt of the electrical change-over. A committee,, comprising Messrs.. Sher-: wood, E. L. Jones, and Cairns, was set ■up to go into the questioa:of street lighting. :;\ ■■■ ';' • ; i. .\- V : ; , It was decided to write to the City Council urging that.'. the completion of Crawford: road be pushed forward aii speedily as,possible. The question of a play; area was [left to/the next meeting of the executive. The meeting agreed on tho paramount importance of beach improvement, and Messrs. Evans, Jones, Howitt,^ Usher, and the chairman 'were appointed a deputation to wait on the Reserves Committee of the council in regard to the matter. It was decidedto go into the question of issuing a circular stating :. what - the. association had achieved and hoped to achieve for the welfare of the district with a view to increasing, membership.•'... , •■;• :
