Captain Huntley, who commanded the - Karamu, paid a, tribute-to 'the■ pluck anoT wonderful endurance! .of the crew, and *' also to the seamanship "of Captain Mur-. ray, of the Karma. -• ■ . ■;• ■'. ■ .•: Considerable difficulty was experienced■■■• in getting the crew of the Karamu on: to| the Karma, arid at times it appeared as' if there would be loss of life. ■ \
On account of .the heavy seas it ..was 1' impossible for the Karina's .boats 'to. get close up to.the Karamu, and for.a cpn-., siderable time the men were drifting • about ob rafts. ,;The men who pulled' to the shore from the Karamu, as report-, ed yesterday, were, rescued. After naving been located by means of smoke signals they were towed to,the Karma. ■
