TRANS-PACIFIC STEAMERS.

The Wairuna, from Sun Francisco, is duo at Auckland on Monday. After discharging part cargo she will proceed to Wellington, Melbourne, and Sydney. The Waiotapu will leave San Francisco about 'the middle of September for Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne, and Sydney. The Waltemata, from Suva, is due at Vancouver about the 18th September. She will load at Pacific Coast ports late In September .and early in October for Papeete, Napier, and New Plymouth.

The Waihemo is to leave Auckland on Oth September for'Vanoouvor direct, and will load at Pacific Coast ports during October for New Zealand ports, probably Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff. ■ '•

The Willaston, after completing discharge at New Plymouth, will proceed to Westport, thence Son Francisco direct to load for New Zealand ports.

SCOW'S CLOSE CALL.

Messrs. Charles M'Arthur and Company's gravel -scow Vlndcx was swept perilously near to. tho rocks at Karaka Buy yesterday aftertoon. The scow is equipped with twin motor engines, but a mishap occurred to one ol them while tho vessel was out iv the harbour. Tho Jante Beddan was sent out to the assistance of the Vlndex, and brought her safely back to No. IS, Customhouse Quay Wharf. .
