WAIEABAPA DEFEAT BULLEB,
(81 TEIE(3ItAPH.—PKESS ASSOCIATION.)
WESTPORT, 30th August,
In glorious weather, and iv the presence of a large gcthering, Wairarapa defeated Bullet* on Saturday by 21 points to 3. The score, however, does not reflect the state of play, as Bullet' held, if anything, the advantage, but lacked the scoring capacity of Wa'irarapa, who led by 8 to nil in-the first" spell; Cundy kicking a penalty goal from nearly hall.way, and Turci scoring and' Cundy converting. When play resumed, Beard scored. Buller's only try, ■ close to the goal, bufc the kick failed. Scores were subsequently. added for the visitors by Cundy, Jury, Booth, and Desmond. The Wairarapa footballers were today the guests of the Bullet*. Rugby Union on a motor trip to Denuiston, from which they, obtained a . most comprehensive view of the surrounding country. This is regarded «s one of the finest drives in the Dominion. A beautiful clear sky. and the warm atmosphere- gave added enjoyment to tho trip. Tho visitors were greatly impressed by the display of the Buller forwards yesterday, and stated they were fit to travel anywhere.
