A REUNION
SAMOAN ADVANCE PARTY.
Tho annual reunion .of members of the iSanioun Expeditionary Force was held at Dustin's, Cuba street, on Saturday night. There was a largo attendance of members, and an excellent supper and musical programme were provided. The most popular feature of the evening was the singing of ■ the old "choruses," which are of personal interest .to each member of the expedition, tho composers having been .on active service with the .force. Mr; F. C. Thompson presided. Apologies were received from Sisters M'Lean and Nathan, Padre Segrief, and Messrs. H. W. Kirkwood, K. C. Aekins, A. Fraser, T. O'Shca, J. R. Sewcll, and JI. Burns. Among those present were Sisters Brandon and Wilson, Lieut.-ColOnel R. Evatt, Major S. A. Gibbs, Dr. Stout, Messrs. Harcourt-Turner, T. Thompson, M. Simmons, arid St,ubbs. After the Royal toast had been proposed by tho chairman, a general discussion followed, it being decided to reelect the old committee, with the exclusion of Mr. M'Cane and the inclusion of Mr. M. Simmons, tbe former having been transferred to Auckland. Mr. Morgan was the proposer of the toast, "The .Army, Navy, and Mercantile Marine," and Lieut-Colonel Evatt suitably replied.' After the toast "Our Fallen Comrades" had been proposed, Mr. N. Nolan impressively sang Stevenson's "Reciuicm," whild members stood to attention. Mr. Horace Stubbs proposed the toast "The New Zealand Medical Corps, the Sisters and Doctors," to which Sisters Brandon and Wilson and Dr. Stout responded. Mr. M'Cormick proposed tho toast "The Samoan 'Advance Party," Messrs. Hiireourt-Turncr and Guidall replying. The chairman, in proposing the toast o£ "The Secretary," Mr. W. G. Morpet-h, spoko of the latter's great work in keeping the members of tho association together. Mr. Morpcth, on rising to respond to the toast, was greeted with cheers, and in an amusing and v.-itty. speech suitably replied. The musical items were given'by Messrs. N. Nolan, A. G. Edwards, W. S. South, B. Moore, Culverwell (songs), and M'Alister and P. Barcham (stories). Messrs. C. Baker and"Bryant were the accompanists at the piano.
