IN PARLIAMENT
THIS WEEK'S BUSINESS.
The business of the House of Representatives this week" will .consist chiefly, of hastening on their way to "another place" a batch of the. Government measures appearing on the Order Paper. A number of more or less important Bills are awaiting their second reading^ while others merely require to be put through the final stages of Committee, and third reading., A number of Departmental reports still remain (o be tabled, and some are bound to he presented before Friday, in order to allow the Estimates of the Departments concerned to be dealt wit!) on. that day. It appears unlikely now, that all remaining classes of the Estimates will be cleared up this week. It is anticipated that the Minister will.take an early opportunity of presenting important reports upon education administration, compiled as a result of recent Commissions of Inquiry. Possibly the Prime Minister may .give notice this week to move that future Monday, evenings shall be devoted to sittings of the House. This, followed by the presentation of the Public Works Statement, heralds, the "end of.every session.
The Minister of Education (the Hon., Sir. James Parr), who is confined to his home with influenza, is reported to be making satisfactory progress.
