FIRE AT LOWER HUTT

The nsw fire fighting plant of the Lower Hutt Brigade was used for the first time yesterday morning, and Superintendent Fliun expresses himself esccadingly pleased with its cfliciency, stating that on this occasion alone it saved far more than its cost. The fire took place at 7.40 a..m. in a potting shed, the property of Messrs. Orr Bros., of Heke street. The situation of the fire was an awkward one, necessitating the use of GOO feet of hose. The shed was surrounded by others a. few feet away, but in spite of the wind a good save was made. The engine pumping plant was brought into use. The shed contained hoots and garden material. Xeithor building nor contents was insured.
