He says: "The positions of London and Washington are fundamentally different. Wo would rather have a little less and a willing settlement than a little" more and a bitter one."
The "Sunday Times" believes that "the nation would almost unanimously prefer to suffer anything rather than have London deal with Paris as Washington has dealt with London./.
