NEW ZEALAND TEAM WINS
AUCKLAND OUTCLASSED,
(EJ TCMQRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.)' AUCKLAND, 29fch August, j A sparkling exhibition of League football was given this afternoon by the New Zealand team, which defeated Auckland by 41 points to 17, at Carlaw Park, before an attendance estimated at 18,000. The weather conditions were ideal. The passing movements by the New Zealand backs were brilliantly executed, and it was evident that the team had learned many of the finer points of tho game during the recent Australian tour. The ball was thrown about in wonderful style, practically the only member of the. team who kicked at all being the fullback. Their opponents seemed completely bafHed, particularly by the "scissors" method of passiug, which was employed with great effect. New Zealand. were a little slow in starting, but once they gof> into their stride, there was no holding them, and if they had so chosen, the score would have been much bigger. Delgrosso's goal-kicking was excellent, he converting seven out of nine tries. Tries were' scored for New Zealand by Avery and Wetherall (3 each), Saunders, O'Brien, and Dixon. Seven tries were converted by Delgrosso. The Auckland scorers were St. George, Riley, and Davidson, three tries being converted by Singe, who also kicked.a penalty goal.
