ORIENTAL FOOTBALL CLUB.
The annual dinner of the Oriental Football Club, held on Thursday evening, drew an attendance of about eighty members. Mr. W. F. Hornjg (N.Z.R.F.U.) presided. Mr. A. Jackson represented the W.R.FJJ., and guests were present from the various Rugby Clubs in the city. Among the toasts proposed and honoured were: "The Oriental Football Club," by i\Jr. Jackson, response by Mr. E. Brown, club captain; "The New Zealand Rugby Union, by Mr! E. Guy, response by Messrs. Hornig and Lindsay; "Our Opponents," by Mr. ' Goudy, response by representatives of the Petone, . Marist, Old B.oys, Wellington, and Selwyn Clubs. Mr. J. Bolt, one of the original foundera of the Oriental Club, nearly forty years ego, gave an interesting retrospect of the. history of the club. Ho paid a high tribute to the excellent spirit which hacl always obtained in the club, and wished them continued success.
In reviewing the. season's activities, Mr. Hornie first expressed regret at the illness of Mr. Poulter, one of tho keen supporters of the club. He attributed much of the senior team's lack of success to their loss of Pringle 'early in Uiq season, owing to an injury. Medals were awarded to tho most improved player on each grade as follow: —Junior, Avery medal, awarded to Jackson; third A. S. Hodgson ; third B, It. Read; intermediate, H. Owen (back), and G. Wright (forward); fourth A, T. Wyman (back) and .T. W. 801 l (forward): fourth B. 'P. Oi-fiik (hack) and Forsyth (forward). The junior grade- coach, Mr. Avery. was presented by the team with a gold-mounted fountain-pen.
