WOMAN JOURNALIST DEAD
(Received 29th August, 2 p.m.) LONDON, 28th August. The death is announced of Miss Wary Billington, tho woman journalist.
The late Miss Billington wai born at Chalbury Rectory, Wimborae, Dorset, and was the daughter of the Rev. G. H. Billington, M.A. She begain her journalistic career on the "Echo," going subsequently to- the "Daily Graphic" for some years. Stie had been exclusively attached since 1897 to the permanent staff of the "Daily Telegraph," but was an occasional contributor to magazines. Miss Billington was president of the Society of Women Journalists from 1813 to 1919, and represented that society as the only overseas woman delegate to the Imperial Press Conference at Ottawa in 1920. She has travelled much in India, the North-West Frontier, and Nepal, and has written many books on various subject*, mostly relating to the places she had visited and the people she had seen.
