LOCAL POSITION UNCHANGED

TAINUI GOES TO THE STREAM.

There has been no change in the position of overseas vessels in port at Wellington. The crews of the Tainui, Arawa, and Leitrim are still ashore, and the first-mentioned vessel joined company with the Arawa in the stream early this afternoon. So far the New Zealand Shipping Company's liner Turakina has not been affected by the strike, but it is considered that developments will take place on Tuesday next, when she is timed to sail for Napier.

The opinion is held in shipping circles that the trouble has now developed into a deadlock. The shipowners are apparently determined not to give way to the demands of the men, and judging by their actions, the men are just as determined to hold out.
