MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Mr.. W. G. Riddell, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court to-duy. Minnie Walsh, a second offender for drunkenness, was fined ss, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment. Michael M'Kinney, who was found at 9.30 p.m. yesterday on premises in Buckle street without lawful excuse, was ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within three months.
James Alexander Birss, who pleaded guilty to the theft of £15 from a friend's premises, was admitted to probation for six months. The Magistrate ordered that a prohibition order bo taken out against tho accused.
John Magee, who was found in a destitute condition yesterday and arrested on a charge of being idle and disorderly, was remanded to sth September for sentence.
A remand to 4th September was granted in the. case of James Ward, who was charged with breaking and entry and theft at York Bay.
John William Wilkinson, a lorry driver, pleaded guilty to being intoxicated while in charge of a motor-lorry. Senior-Sergeant Lander stated that the defendant collided with another lorry in Cuba street about 3 p.m. yesterday, and when found by the police was in a state of intoxication. The Magistrate imposed a fine of £20, and ordered the defendant's license to be suspended for one month. Default was fixed at twenty-one days' imprisonment.
At a sitting of tho Mount Cook Police Court yesterday, before Mr. George Fownes, J.P., a first offender for drunkenness was convicted and discharged, and smother was lined ss.
