LABOUR WELCOME

TO EMPIRE PRESS DELEGATE.

The Kight Hon. C. ■W. Bowennan, M.P., one of the delegates.to the Empire Press Conference, was entertained by .the"Labour Party in the Labour Whips room at Parliament Buildings on Wednesday. Mr. Bowerman has been for many-years secretary to the London Society of Compositors, and for a long period was secretary to the British Trades Union Congress. In addition to members of the Parliamentary Labour Party, there were present at the gathering officials and representatives of tho various trades union organisations of Wellington. Mr. H. E. Holland, Leader of the Parliamentary Labour Party, presided, and extended a cordial welcme to Mr. Bowerman on behalf of the Parliamentary Party. Further greetings were given by Messrs. T. Brindle (president of the New Zealand Labour Party), J. Roberts (secretary, Alliance of Labour), F. Cornwell (president, Wellington Trades and Labour Council), and Couit cillor T. Bloodworth, of Auckland. Mr. Bowerman, in replying, thanked the gathering for the oomiality of thn welcome, and stated thatne had formed a very high opinion of the country. Ha described the future of the Labour Party in Britain as being particularly bright. Eulogising the work of the Labour Got-. eminent while in office, he said he bwlieved that before long it would be again returned to power as well ns to office. Mr. Bowerinau also spoke of thY progress of the trades union movement in Great Britain, referring particularly to the London Society of Compositors. He conveyed (ho fraternal greetings of the British Labour movement to tho Labour movement in New Zealand, and said lie would be pleased to take back iiic reciprocal resolution' passed fhati day.
