EMPRESS THEATRE.
The double feature programme presented "at the Empress Theatre yesterday proved a strong attraction for picture lovers. The main attraction was a stirring dramatic production, "Salvage," in which Pauline Frederick, the noted artist, playa a dual role.. She appears as Bernice .Ridgeway, the wife of a retired capitalist, who, owing to domestic unhappiness, leaves her homa and goes to live >in the slum area. There she devotes her life to the care of stray waifs. Pauline Frederick also takes the part of Kate Martin, a moral wreck of the slums, who neglects her littla baby in order that she mijjht satisfy her craving for drugs. The story is ons that holds attention until the very end. The second feature attraction is " Fires of Fate," a vivid story of life in Egypt. The featured artists are Wanda Hawley and Nigel Barrie. There is a strong supporting programme, including a Larry Semon comedy, " Trouble Brewing," and a Pathe Gazette.
