LOCAL MANAGEMENT. REQUEST FOR PONEKE TO VISIT AUCKLAND. The Wellington Rugby Union's Management Committee met last evening, Mr. J. Prendeville presiding. Others present were: Messrs. J. N. Millard, G. F. W. Jackson, A. Lindsay, A. Jackson, E. Ward, H. Murphy, E. Williams, T. A. Fletcher (Referees' Association), and A. E. Neilson (secretary). Advice was received from the Auckland Union that it was desirous of staging a match between the winners of the Auckland and Wellington senior championships—Ponsonby and Poneke—at Auckland on the 10th October, as a benefit for V. Badeley, who was seriously injured while playing in a New Zealand trial game last year. The Auckland Union, it was also stated,, was prepared to pay the expenses of the Poneke team. The matter was referred.to the Poneke Club. It was decided that the match between the Wairarapa third grade representatives and the Wellington fourth grade representatives be played at Wellington on the sth September. Permission was granted for a match to be played at the Polo grounds on the 19th September, between teams representing the Customs Department and the Customs agents and importers. • A junior player who had questioned the ruiings of a referee in a match last Saturday, and had walked off the field during the progress of the was reported by the referee. He is to be asked to attend the next meeting of the committee. ' The Hutt Borough Council notified that No. 1 area at the Hutt Recreation Ground was closed for the season. It was decided to ask the Oriental Chib for an explanation concerning a report that its junior team last Saturday included three Poneko seniors.
