UNRESTRICTED OFFERINGS OF WOOL.
Messrs. H. Davraon and Co., London and Wellington, in a recant review, say that, following the recent depression, "the only hope of restored confidence and of a more stabilised market is in the free and unrestricted offering of the available supplies. The immediate result of this would almost certainly be a fall and general revival of demand, which latterly has been much restricted. The later news from Australia, announcing the reopening of the auctions during this month, will help towards a better feeling. In fact, a healthier tone and improved inquiry have been evident during the past few days in merino sorts in Bradford, Boubaix . and Verviers, although in all ultimate markets there are still many anomalies. Manufacturers and spinners are strongly expecting that orders which have been held back since May will now bo placed. There is every evidence at the cloth end that stocks are exceedingly light, while in every section of the industry a cautious hand-to-mouth buying policy has been pursued in all merino sorts, and the time for a larger turnover is now due. Orders in the home trade for manufactured products have been held up, and with a stable basis more or less established, a greater volume of business for the whole trade, should result."
