SEAMEN AND WATERSIDERS
THE SYDNEY SITUATION,
SYDNEY, 24th August,
A mass meeting of seamen considered the position and adjourned until Wednesday, when the waterside workers are also to meet to decide what attitude to adopt. At to-day's meeting the waterside workers promised to assist the strikers. Mr. T. Walsh, addressing the meeting, said he thought that where ships were, manned by non-union labour in Britain the labour movement throughout Australia should consider declaring such ships black immediately they touch Australia. ' ■ I In the meantime the situation is unchanged, and vessels are still held*up. The sailing of the Orient liner Orama has been postponed indefinitely. Arrangements have been made for picketing the steamers.
