NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL MEETS

TEAM TO TOUR AUSTRALIA.

CHRISTCHURCH, 24th August. The Management Committee of the New Zealand ' Cricket Council met tonight, Mr. J. S. Barrett presiding. An application by the North Otago Association for part refund of .the guarantee given in respect of the Victorian team's tour was refused. The Otago Association was granted a refund of £25. The financial statement for the year showed the receipt! to have been £1844 6s and the expenditure £1620 16s 7d. The council has a credit of £1595 16s 7d. With regard to the team to go to Australia in November, it was decided to recommend to the selectors that thirteen players be sent, witll a manager. The players will not receive any allowance other than the loss of wages, with a maximum of £3 10s per week. Mr. J. F. Peake was appointed manager, and Messrs. A. F. Williams (Otago), W. S. Brice (Wellington), N. -C. Sneddon (Auckland), W. R. Patrick (Canterbury), and E. R. Caygill (management committee- chairman), the-selectors., Tho team will be selected in Christchurch about the end of October, and will leave for Sydney on 19th November.
