A prominent Swarajist, Mr. Patel, has been, elected chairman of the AllIndia Assembly at Bombay. Considerable political importance and speculation attach to his election, as it will bring him into close proximity to the Viceroy. Hitherto Swarajist nominees have been defeated in the Legislatures of Bengal, Madras, tho Punjab, and tho United Provinces, but they have succeeded in Bombay and the Central Pro-
vinces.
