FUTURE APPOINTMENTS.
(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—OOPTRKJHT.) (AUSTRALIAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION;) LONDON, 19th August. The Colonial Office has not yet considered successors to the Earl of Stradbroke, Governor of Victoria, and Sir Matthew Nathan, Governor of Queensland, pending the return of the Secretary of the Dominions, Mr. Leopold Amery, who is now holiday-making, when the Victorian and Queensland Governments will ■ be consulted. The Colonial Office has not yet received any representations regarding State. Governorships, but the Imperial policy has remained unchanged since the days of Lord Milner, who recognised a State's right* in regard to gubernatorial appointments, but strongly objects to various State* pursuing different methods.
