TO-DAY'S PROCEEDINGS
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
The House of 'Representatives met at 2.30 p.m. Mr. W. D. Lysnar (Gisberne) asked the Prime Minister when the Vestey Meat Commission's report would be made available for publication or laid on the table of the House.' Mr. Coates replied that he had not got the report, but would have inquiries made, and as soon as he had looked at the report he would either lay it on the table or make it public. Mr. R. M'Keen (Wellington South) gave notice to ask the Minister of Education whether he would include in this year's Estimates a sum for the erection of a new.school at Newtown. The Rents Restriction Continuance Bill was introduced. Mr. P. A. de la Perrelle- (Awaiua) asked the Prime Minister whether the Government would alter the law to compel Power Boards to collect their own rates. Mr. Coates replied that the 1 provisions of the present law had been inserted for reasons of economy. He would' consider the matter, but he was doubtful whether it ■would be wise to relax or alter the legislation. (Proceeding.)
