A POSTAL STRIKE
MORE TROUBLE AT SHANGHAI*

PEKIN, 17th Augußt.
Nearly 2000 postal employees havt struck for various reasons, including the rates of pay. Some of them attacked * detective with stools and chairs, and ha fired $ revolver and wounded a. coolie. The Post Office is at present guarded by marines from the warship Concord. At a meeting of. the Shanghai Gen-, eral Labour Union the chairman stated that the agreement reached recently, would not satisfy the labourers. It was decided .that the operatives would not resume work unless one-third of the strike pay was granted and wagea were increased by 10 per cent..
