KARORI CROQUET CLUB

The thirteenth annual general meeting of the Karori Croquet Club \yas held recently, when a large gathering of members assembled at the residence of the secretary. Mrs. Lowery, president, occupied the ohair. The report and bal-ance-sheet submitted by the secretary and treasurer, which disclosed a highly satisfactory position, were read and adopted. Eulogistic references were made to the work of the retiring officers by. several members present, and very hearty were tho votes of appreciation and thanks accorded them. Two now members were elected and two resignations received, making the total membership, exclusive of honorary members, thirty. Tho election of offioer» resulted as i under:-^-Patron, Mr. B. G. H. Burn; patroness, Lady Johnston; vice-patrou-ess, Mrs. Andrew Hamilton; honorary president, Mrs. Henry Cook (all reelected); president, Sirs. Rhodes Williams ; vice-preside.nts, Mesdames Carr and Strickland (re-elected); club captain, Mrs. W. Lowery; hon. treasurer, Mrs. Butcher (re-elected); hon. secretary, Mrs. V: St. John Kennan; general committee, Mesdames Dryden, Bradnock, Short, Lewis, Strickland, aud Can*. (There were eleven nominations for these positions, n.nd keen interost was taken in balloting. Mrs. Dryden was appointed in charge of the tea requirements, provisioning, etc.) Delegates to the Wellington Croquet Association, Mesdames Lowery and Ehodes Williams. It was decided to enter a team in each .lection of the association shield matches this season. The date of opening the lawns was left in the hands of the incoming committee to arrange after consulting the caretaker. Before retiring from office Mrs. Lowery thanked the officers for their untiring work, which had greatly assisted her during her term as president, and at* her Tequest very hearty votes of •thanks were accorded Mrs. Butcher (treasurer), Mrs. Dryden (tea committee), Ms. Rhodes Williams (secretary aud captain), Mr. Kaglo (caretaker) and his assistant, tho Press, iind all those members who had assisted in jiinkin" tin; season so successful.
