M. W. Tate and E. H." Bowley (Sussex), in a firat-wicket partnership at Hastings against Northamptonshire, made 193. Tate scored a brilliant century in 80 minutes, including one 6, one 5, and seventeen 4's. Thirty-seven of the first fifty were made in three overs. He gave a chance in the slips before he had Bcored.
There is the keenest raoe.'for the two hundredth wicket. C: W.'L Pai'ker (Gloucestershire) has captured 182, M. W. Tato (Sussex) 181, 0. F* Root (Derbyshire) 181, and E. A. Maedonald (Lancashire), the ex-Australian player, is next with 156 wickets to Ilia credit, while G. G. Macaulay (Yorkshire:) lias taken 155. Tho weather has given the bowlers a great deal of -assistance..
