DANCING.

A social and dance will be held under Labour Party auspices on Thursday evening next in St. Francis's Hall, Hill street. Jazz and old-time dances will constitute the programme, together with concert items. The best music will be provided, and dancing will continue from 8 till 12.

Patrons of the 15th Battery Social Club will be pelased to learn that the club will continue to hold its popular weekly dance in the CJubroom, Jervois quay, to-night. Excellent music will be supplied by Percy Carter's Orchestra, and an excellent supper will bo provided.

The . Orientals meet" at the Oddfellows' Hall as usual on Monday, when: another great night is assured to lovers of old-time dancing. A plain and fancy dress dance is to be held in the-South Wellington School Hall to-night. There will be prizes for the best dress and poster, and also for lucky, spot, and streamer waltzs. Music will be supplied by the Picardy Orchestra. Proceeds will be devoted to improving the children's playground. The Violet Assembly has the distinction of being the oldest assembly in Wellington, and continues to attract large crowds. A carnival night. will; be held to-night "in the Early Settlers' Hall, when twelve prizes will be given away, in addition to twenty prizes in the lucky waltz. Ladies will receive balloons free of charge, and a streamer and spotlight dance will be a feature of the evening. On Tuesday night a "Childhood Days Carnival" will be held. " .

The Bohemian Assembly will hold its popular old-time dance as usual to-night in St. Peter's Hall, at 8 o'clock. Miss Hawthorne's Orchestra will provide a delightful musical programme. Thero will be prizes and others attractions.

The De Luxe Assembly is holding its popular old-time dance to-night in the Victoria Hall, Adelaide road.

This evening the Serenaders'' Social and Dance Club will hold a championship waltzing competition in the Newtown Library Hall, at which *" Mr. J. Knowsley will act as judge. . 'The present champions, Mr. and Mrs. Barnard, will defend the title. Leslie Robinson's Band will provide the music for oldtime dancing. .
