QUEEN'S THEATRE.
"New Toys," a First National picture, greatly pleased the large house which attended its initial screening at the Queen's Theatre last ev.ening. The title refers to the possessions of a young married couple, who soon tire of them and look for fresh playthings. Will Webb (Richard Barthelmess) and Mary Lane marry and settle down - to marital bliss, with what they term their "new toys." At first their existence is unadulterated happiness, but soon Mary tires •of domestic life a>nd longs to return to the stage where she had been well known before. The former sweethearts of tho two conspire to separate the couple. They succeed, and Mary goes back to the stage, and Will is left at home to mind the infant. On the night of her first appearance ho cannot resist the temptation to' go to the theatre. He arrives just in time to see Mary walk on to the stage and spoil the whole play. What at first appears to be a catastrophe is really the cause of the reunion of the couple. There is much humour to relieve the serious parts of the drama. An additional attraction is the act of Barry and Irwin, singers, dancers, and novelty artists. The first instalment of the chapter play, "The Riddle Rider," a comedy and a gazette complete the programme.
