LOCAL MANAGEMENT
UNION COMMITTEE MEETS The Wellington Bugby Union's Management Committee met last evening, Mr. J. Prendeville presiding. Others present were : Messrs. A. J. Griffiths, fl. H. Sterling, E. Ward, W. Hardham,, A. Jackson, E. Williams, H. Murphy, J. Lindsay, G. F. W. Jackson, T. A. Fletcher (Referees' Association), and A. E. Neilson (secretary). , The chairman formally reported that arrangements had been made to alter the date of the Wellin-jtun-Hawkes Bay match from 19th September to sth. September. The Nelson Rugby Union advised that it accepted 6th September aa the date of a match at Nelson between its junior representatives and the Wellington third-grade representatives. A protest by Selwyn, against short time being played in the Selwyn-Wellington College seventh grade ' match was referred to the Referees' Association for a report. It was explained by letter from the Oriental Club that the reason for the failure of its fifth grade team to play on Saturday was that practically all members of the toam had to attend a compulsory military parade, occasioned by the death of the captain of the company to which they belong. A decision was made that tho match bo replayed. The Melrose Club was granted permission to withdraw its B team from the fourth grade competition. A fourth grada player who was ordered off the fiold last Saturday for allegedly tripping am opponent was cautioned, and similar- action was taken in the case of a senior player who was alleged to havo used threatening behaviour towards an opponent. The Primary Schools' Union was granted the use of. Athletic Park "on the 12th August for playing two champion, ship finals.
