Sir Jolin Roberts arrived from the South this morning by. the Wahine. Sir James Coates, of the National Bank, arived by the Main Trunk express from Auckland yesterday. The' Rev. C. Pitowaky left Welling, ton to-day for Hastings. Messrs.. C. W. Rattray and S< K. Slee. were passengers this morning by the Wahine from Lyttelton. Mr. Justice Frazer arrived in Wellington this morning from Lyttelton. Messrs. J. Bitchener and F. J. Rolleston, M.P.'s, returned to Wellington this morning. The Hon. H. L. Michel returned to Wellington this morning by tho Wahine from Lyttelton. Mr. T. D. Kendall, Christchurch Inspector or the Public Trust Office, retired on superannuation on .Saturday after thirty-eight* years' service 'in that Department. Mr. Kendall was district manager at Greymouth, 1897-1902; district manager at Wellington, 1910-12; district Public Trustee and Official Assignee at Dunedin, 1912-14, and Christchurch, 1914-20. Since 1920 he has been inspector for the Christchurch, Nelson, and Marlborough districts. He was made the subject of a presentation by the staff. The Rev. H. J. Huffadine, pastor of Christchurch Trinity Congregational Church, who died there on Monday, was 58 years of age. Mr. Huffadine came of a Staffordshire. family, bis father being the Rev. H. H. Huffadine, of Brewood. Prior to coming to Now Zealand Mr. Huffadine was pastor of the Stafford Congregational Church. He began his ministry at the Trinity Church, Christchurch, in 1920, the year of his arrival in New Zealand. He was an associate of the Theological Society of England, and at the last annual meeting he was appointed chairman-elect of tho Congregational Union of New Zealand. The illness from which he died was of three months' duration. He leaves a widow and a family of two.
