CANADA'S POSITION IMPORTANCE IN THE EMPIRE. (UNHID PHEBS ASSOCIATION—COPTRIOHT.) (IOSTBILIAN-MIW ZEALAND O4BLI ASSOCIATION.) (Received sth August, 11 a.m.) VANCOUVER, 4th August. The Premier, Mr. M. King, in an addreg* at Kitchener, Ontario, said : "As Canada is true to herself and Canadians are true to Canada's highest interests, so will Canadian citizenship mean the most for Empire citizenship." When asked whether, if Canada were out- of the Empire, would Britain not be the first nation with which the Dominion would seek to co-operate (the question referring to a suggestion of annexation by the. United States), lie said he believed that the contribution of both nations to civilisation and the happiness of mankind was greater under the existing conditions than would bo possible under any new arrangements. "As we stand to-day, we are in the position of interpreter between the two most formidable bodies of opinion in the world —the American and the British."
