LODGE MEETINGS
Esther Rebekah Lodge, No. 39, | 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Brooklyn, held its fortnightly meeting last week, Sister A. Taylor, N.G., presiding. There was a good attendance. Three lady candidates were elected, and initiated, two, brothers also being admitted to the Rebekah degree. The fortnightly meeting of Wildey Lodge, No. 107, i.0.0.F., N.Z., Island Bay, took place last Wednesday evening, Bro. A. V.. Wells, N.G., presiding. One candidate was nominated, and the lodge adjourned to pay an official visit to Maraenui Lodge, No. 124, Mirarnar, motor transport being kindly provided by a member of the Order. Maraenui Lodge, No. 124, 1.0.0.X., N.Z., Miramar, held its fortnightlymeeting last Wednesday evening, Bro. H. 0. Uossgrove, N.G. presiding. There was a large attendance, including officers and members of Zealandia Lodge, No. 48, and Wildey Lodge, No. 107, paying an official visit. A gold fraternity emblem was presented to Bro. A. Evans, V.G., in recognition of services rendered, and later a card tournament was held. The fortnightly meeting 1 of Southern Cross Lodge, No. 24, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., ■was held last Thursday evening, Bro. R. C. Andrew, N.G., presiding. Pour candidates were elected and initiated, and four. others nominated. Victoria R-ebekah Lodge, No. 2, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., JSTewtown, held its •fortnightly meeting last Thursday evening, Sister K. Jeil'ery, N.G., presiding. Three lady candidates were nominated, and officers for the term were installed by the Lady District Deputy Grand Master (Sister E. Maley, P.N.G.) and suite of P.N.G.'s, as follow :—Sisters K. Jeffery (J.P.N.G.), F. Barrowman (N.G.), A. Ansett (V.G.), E. Maley (F.Sec), A. Glengarry (R.Sec), W. Maloy (Treas.), M. Newman (Warden), W. Maley (Conductor), M. Shepherd (Chaplain), J. Cousins (1.G.)» D. Murphy (0.G.), M. Randall (R.S.N.G.), I. Cole (L.S.N.G.), I. Scott (R.S.V.G.), and N. Harris (L.S.V.G.). A combined installation supper was held in conjunction with Esther, No 80, and Eose of Wellington, No. 38, Rebekah Lodges, a rery large gathering- of members of all city and suburban lodges of the Order eittlng down to enjoy the good things provided. . Bcsponduig to the toast of "Grand Lodge and Installing Officers," the L.D.D.G.M. (Sister E. Maley, P.N.G.) expressed the pleasure of the hosts in being able to welcome sisters of the two recently instituted Rebekah lodges, O-Kiwi-Iti, No. 44, Eastbourne, and Star of Petone, No. 45. She congratulated all concerned on the success of their efforts to strengthen the Rebekah branch, the district; -with five Rebekah lodges, being now second to none in the jurisdiction. The D.D.G.M. (Bro. H. Dames, P.G.), in responding, congratulated the installation officers on j the very high standard of ritual work J performed that evening, and at the recent institution of the two new Rebekah lodges. He extended a hearty invitation to all members to attend the welcome conversazione being tendered the Grand Master and the members of the Order with the American, fleet at the Town Hall on 11th August. By request he made the following presentations :—Trophies presented by Bro. J. Pridmore, P.G., for introduction of most candidates last term; to Sister I. Cole, P.N.G.. Esther Lodge, No. 30; and Bro T. Hedges, N.G., Cleveland, No. 13; and framed P.N.G. diplomas on behalf of their respective lodges to Sisters H. Christsen, I. B. Morrison, R. Finch, and C. Edmanson "Visiting Lodges" was proposed by Sister D. Rickand, N.G. (Rose of Wellington), and responded to by Sisters G. Brammall (O-Kiwi-Iti), J. M. Goss (Star of Petone), and Bros. G. L. Christsen (Wellesley Juvenile), R. 0. Andrew (Southern Cross), R. S. Brown (Zealandia), A. V. Wells (Wildey) S. F. Fisher (Muritai), J. W. Pearson (Heretaunga), H. O. Cossgrovo (Maraenui), W. H. Higgins (Onslow), and J. Nind (Port Nicholson Encampment). The fortnightly meeting of Loyal Britannia Lodge, Manchester Unity, 1.0.0. F., -was held in the Clyde 'quay lodgeroom on Monday, N.G. Bro. A. J. Williams presiding over a good attendance of. members. The N.G.. was assisted by.the following offioers:—l.P.N.G., P.G. Bro. F. Taylor; V.G., Bro. P. Martin j Warden, Bro. M. Brickman; Guardian, Bro. E. Jane. A candidate was initiated Into the Order, th» offi.cers performing the ceremony in a Tery impressive manner. Viaiton were present from Napier, Petone, Auckland, and Inrercargill, and all • received a cordial welcome, to which they suitably responded. After routine business -was transacted the lodge adjourned, when members spent a pleasant ■ hour in harmony.
