VICE-REGAL. His Excellency the Governor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson, returned to Wellington this morning from Nelson by the ferry steamer Ngaio. Ths Hon. J. A. Hanan, M.P., returned to Wellington this morning by the Maori from Lyttelton. Messrs. L. M. Isitt, G. Witty, H. T. Armstrong, and D. G. Sullivan, M.P.'s, returned to Wellington this morning. The Right Rev. Dr. Richards, Bishop of Dunedin, was a passenger this morning by the ferry steamer from Lyttelton. Mr. Fritz Kreisler, the celebrated violinist, accompanied by Mrs. Kreialer, arrived from Sydney by the Maunganui, en route to Auckland, to join the Niagara for Vancouver. Archbishop Averill and the Bishop? of Waiapu, Nelson, Dunedin, Melanesia, and Wellington are in Wellington to-day in connection with business relating to the Board of Theological Studies, the Board of Missions, and the Standing Committee of the General Synod. To succeed Mr. J. M. Simmers, 8.A., who has retired from the position of principal of the Dannevirke Boys' High School, which he had occupied since the school was established about 22 years ago, Mr. Allan G. Tait, 8.A., first assistant at Timaru Boys' High School, has been appointed out of thirty-six applicants.—Press Association. Mr. Roland Poster, of the Sydney Con-' servatorium of Music, who is to adjudicate at the Wellington Competitions, was a passenger from Sydney by the'Maunganui, which arrived in Wellington yesterday. He leaves for the South tomorrow, and after acting as judge at the Invercargill Competitions, will return to Wellington for the opening of the competitions hers on the 22nd instant.
