"Musical Education in Wales" was the subject of an address given at tho Rotary Club luncheon to-day by Sir Harry Beichel, Chairman oE the University Commission. The chairman for the day was Rotarian J. P- Phillips, j Sir Harry Rcichel said that Wales had earned the reputation of the land of song. He referred to the annual Eistedfod, which ivas a popular competition congress for music and literature— chiefly music. Tho people of Wales— even the labouring class —were keenly interested in music and literature. The establishment of secondary schools in Wales early in the 'nineties had had the effect of robbing the people of something of their love of music, but that had been countered by the appointment of a Director 'of Music at the University of Wales. Sir Harry spoke enthusiastically of the movement to introduce- gramophones into the schools, and urged that there should bo a- gra- i mophono in every school in tlie country.
