RIOT AT NANKING
SEQUEL TO DISMISSALS.

HONG; KONG, 2nd August. A British naval wireless message from Nanking reports that the International Export Company has reduced its Chinese staff, and that' the dismissed men have assumed a threatening attitude. A British naval force has been landed. The mob mauled some of the Chinese'police-, whose officer ordered his men to fire, and three or four were wounded. Afterwards a British resident, who was going home, was attacked in the street and injured, and had to be taken, to .the hospital. All is now quiet, and the Chinese polica have the situation well in hand.
