WANDERERS V. DIAMONDS

Wanderers and Diamonds met at Association Park on a fairly fast ground, and for the most part jilayed last accordingly. Wanderers' win was largely a result of first rate halt-play, Arbuthnot showing up right through, the game. Diamonds were perhaps unfortunate in not opening their score, for very likely work was done near goal, notably by R. and J. M'licod. Moug, outside right for Wanderers, was a prominent player, and again opened tho scoring, beating Cutler with a splendid shot early in the game. Diamonds were for a time I unable to get down to their most useful movement, cross-play between the wings and inside men. J. M'Leod, Dickensen, and R. M'Leod got away in good style, but nothing was gained from the corner conceded by Jack. Wanderers replied with a similar movement, Montgomery lifting far upfield to Moug.. Houston carried on, and sent over to Galbraith (inside left), but Cutler stopped the shot for a corner. Wanderers kept at it, and Cutler, in going out to meet a shot from Cunningham (outside ' left) fell. Houston somehow missed from a couple of feet out and fast up and down play followed, Dickerison, Daniells, and Stocks going down to Wanderers' goal for a corner. This was cleared, and Lothian went through solo,. but was stopped by Hearne. in the return attack, Dy M'Leod and Stocks, then to Daniells and Dickensen, Diamonds were .almost through. Galbraith and Lothian went away, and Lothian finalised with a great shot. 2-0. From the next attack he took the Bcore to 3-0, and. a minute later Wanderers were back again, and Arbuthnot tried a long one. Cutler turned the shot across the goal-mouth, but Moug took the return, and slammed hard to the net. 4-0. Diamonds did some good work on the left wing, Bidgood, R. M'Leod, and Stocks, but could not get through. Mr. S. Wilson had charge of the match.
