POVERTY BAY.

The Wairoa sub-union successfully defended the Barry Cup. here to-day against the Poverty Bay Union, winmug by 12 points to 8, alter a spectacular game. Xhe Wairoa forwards, led by the Ormond brothers, played splendidly, and clearly asserted their superiority in the closing stages. The visitors, were leading- by 8 points to 6 a few minutes before the finish, and then two successive sweeping forward rushes carried play to their twenty-five, w,here Lawton, a speedy wing three-quarter, secured and raced over at the corner. The final whistle blew just after the last try had'been scored.
