'.I'hc Government steamer Hiuemoty which arrived in port last evening from Auckland/is to be fitted up to enable her to transport the lepers from Quail Island station, in Lytteltori Harbour, to the leper station of Mnltogai, an island lying 18 miles north-east of Levuka, the old capital of Fiji. Four Maoris, two Chinamen, nnd three Europeans— all mules—will go from New Zealand with the present staff. The Hinemoa will be here till towards the end of this week, and she will then proceed to Lyttelton, via Westport, to pick up the lepers. The vessel will also transport ten lepers from Samoa, after ■which she will go on to Niue Island to load copra for Auckland.
