A VISIT TO WEMBLEY

Interesting impressions of New Zealand exhibits at Wembley are given in a letter received by Mr. D. C. Bates, of Wellington, from a relative resident in England. . "We could not describe .the beauty of the exhibitions," states the writer in relating experiences of a visit to Wembley. "Those of both Australia and New Zealand were very fine; and Malay too. I don't know if it will be interesting to you to hear about the New Zealand section, but it was most interesting to us to see it. There was a lovely view, all lighted from above with electric lights, of the Milford Sound, and also shown were the Southern Alps, the Hot Springs of Rotorua (all in motion), the Stalactite Caves, and the Wanganui River. There was a model of a dairy company, with carts delivering milk and others returning empty; also a cow in butter (life size), a map, ships, and palms in butter. A most amusing: get-up was a Friesian dummy cow (with calf), which bellowed, swished its tail, rolled its head round, and blinked its eyes. The fruits were beautiful, apples in abundance. The machinery for baling the wool was going, and in beautiful order. There were stands and stands packed with furs of rabbits, opossums, coney seals, and beaver coney. The wood illustrations were splendid, and so numerous. Mr. A. H. Anderson (Christchurch), the man in charge, told us they had improved it very much since last year. Much more in the way of exhibits had been sent."
